Alex McCord Is “Thrilled” About This Latest Update on Her Career
We also have some major news about the RHONY alum’s marriage to Simon van Kempen.
Those who have continued to follow Alex McCord since her time on The Real Housewives of New York City know that her life has changed a lot since she last appeared on TV. Alex left Brooklyn and moved to Australia with her husband, Simon van Kempen, and their sons, Francois and Johan. She also went back to school to get her bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology.
Over the past couple of years, Alex published her first peer-reviewed journal article and earned her master's in professional psychology. Her work has even been recognized with a national award in Australia.
Now Alex just shared another exciting update on her career. The RHONY alum revealed in an Instagram post on June 2 that she has been published yet again. “Yahoooo! Thrilled to announce [the] publication of my second peer-reviewed journal article (Journal of Forensic Practice),” she wrote in the post, which featured a photo of Alex proudly holding her published paper. “Not an academic one-hit wonder.”
Alex has opened up on Instagram over the past few months about her career in psychology, sharing in November 2021 that she presented her latest research to the Australian Association of Gerontology. She also expressed her gratitude for being able to practice psychology in Byron Bay, Australia, in particular. “Something I love about practicing psychology in Byron is the flexibility to do sessions at the beach,” Alex wrote on Instagram in February. “Mindful relaxation on a beautiful summer morning = awesome.”
Sometimes, during a day full of home visits and aged care sessions, a feathered friend can make an unexpected yet delightful appearance as well.
In addition to professional updates, Alex also posts plenty about her personal life on Instagram, including the latest on Francois and Johan — who you’ll notice are so grown up these days, having turned 18 and 16, respectively, last fall. Alex regularly shares what her sons are currently up to, which explains why she is absolutely beaming whenever they get the chance to spend time all together. “My gorgeous young men,” Alex captioned one lovely photo of the trio on Instagram around Mother’s Day last month. “I’m so lucky to be their mom.”
And don’t think we forgot about Simon! Alex and her iconic husband are still going strong, celebrating their 22nd wedding anniversary this past weekend.
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Alex and her family!
RHONY is streaming on Peacock.
