Ryan Serhant Reveals His Biggest Lesson from His First Year of Marriage
"It was tough, like tough in a good way," the #MDLNY agent said of husband life.
Congratulations are in order for Ryan Serhant. The Million Dollar Listing New York agent celebrated his first wedding anniversary with Emilia Bechrakis Serhant on July 7.
The MDLNY couple returned to Greece, where they tied the knot last year, for the most stunning of anniversary vacays."We went to Greece, we had a boat, we bounced around the lower Cyclades," Ryan recently told The Daily Dish about all the anniversary fun. "That was cool. It was great, it was like the greatest time ever."
Luckily, Ryan and Emilia captured the whole gorgeous getaway on Instagram so we could live vicariously through them and, naturally, get a little (OK, a lot) jealous.
Though Ryan and Emilia did not end up buying a home in Greece as they had hoped on Million Dollar Listing New York Ryan's Wedding last year, the MDLNY agent said the dream is still alive. "Yes. We look every time we go. I think we might have found something this time, but it's a process," Ryan explained, adding that it's been difficult to determine who owns what property in Greece.
Since this is only the first of what is sure to be many years of marriage for Ryan and Emilia, they definitely have plenty of time to find their perfect Greek pad. And Ryan said that the first year of marriage has been an incredibly important — albeit challenging — one for him and Emilia. "It was tough, like tough in a good way. But tough to — I am very selfish by nature, and I think that I focus a lot on myself and business, and that was always my first priority. And then I got married and realized I couldn’t do that so much anymore," Ryan shared. "I grew up in a very regimented family style, and so my dad was the patriarch a hundred percent. That’s just sort of how we were raised, and I think that it’s amazing how much you look back at your childhood and even things you don’t like when you’re a little kid, and you’re like, 'I’m never gonna be that way,' you are that way. You only realize it when you’re sitting there, and you’re like, 'Oh my God, I’m my dad.' So it was tricky, but I think we’re much better now because of it."
For Ryan and Emilia, first came love, then came marriage, so now is the MDLNY couple ready to add some babies to this family? Ryan fills you in, below.
