On Season 2, Episode 9 of Vanderpump Rules, Scheana Shay took a chance at pop stardom by recording her dance track “Good as Gold.”

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

“I think this song is going to be huge,” she explained at the time. “Like, it’s so catchy, it’s very commercial. … I want to focus on my strong points and go a little more the Kesha route.”

And just as the former SURver suspected, the 2013 single became an instant hit that still lives in our heads rent-free more than a decade after its release. The catchy tune is so iconic that Andy Cohen even tasked Scheana to perform it at BravoCon 2022.

Following the song's resurgence in success, Scheana decided to give “Good as Gold” a refresh. The new version of the track featured L.A.-based music group, The 27s, who added some guttural screams to the chorus, giving it a more pop-punk feel. In fact, viewers received a behind-the-scenes look at their recording process on Season 11, Episode 2 of Vanderpump Rules (clip above).

What’s more, Scheana recently revealed to The Daily Dish exclusively that she and The 27s have more projects in the works and even teased when to expect them. Read on for details!

Scheana Shay teases “new music” with The 27s

With Scheana having such a positive experience with the music group, you better believe they agreed to continue working together. “I have new music with the boys, The 27s,” Scheana told The Daily Dish. “They are incredible. It's been such a fun outlet [and] very therapeutic. We're doing a whole EP that's kind of like the eras of Scheana on Vanderpump Rules.”

Scheana continued to reveal how spending time in the studio allowed her to find a new sense of self-awareness. “I've been really enjoying just getting back in the studio, having fun with it, not worrying about what people are gonna say and just being confident,” she said.

When will Scheana Shay and The 27s’ new music get released?

Although Scheana did not mention an exact timeframe for the release of their new project, she did state that they will be releasing one song "a month" as the EP is still in progress.

“We only have one [song] that's completely finished,” Scheana admitted, adding, “and then the other two are written, and then I'm waiting for the last one of the EP because I feel like I'm gonna get some [inspiration] throughout this season that's gonna trigger a new song.”

Who is the band, The 27s?

The 27s are an LA-based music group made up of vocalist Landis Daniels and guitarist Kevin Franklin.
