Caitlyn Jenner introduced herself to the world earlier this week with the release of a Vanity Fair cover. Now we’re getting an even closer look into her brave journey.
Set to premiere on E! on July 26, I Am Cait will follow the star transitioning into life as a transgender. It will be an eight part, one-hour documentary series and the first trailer of the show was recently released.
The clip begins with Caitlyn sitting at a vanity doing her makeup. “So many people go through life and they never deal with their own issues, no matter what the issues are. Ours happen to be gender identity,” she says. “But how many people go through life and just waste an entire life because they never deal with themselves to be who they are?”
Adjusting to life as Caitlyn hasn’t been easy and she says she’s been “learning kind of the pressure that women are under all the time about their appearance,” as she applies lipgloss in the mirror. “I never had until a couple of weeks ago actually a professional come in and do my makeup. What a difference!”
The trailer ends with Caitlyn driving through Malibu with others for the first time as herself. “We’re officially off the property! We’re out in the world!” she exclaims.
”Isn’t it great that maybe someday you’ll be normal—just blend into society?” she asks. “You are normal,” a passenger responds.
"Put it this way: I’m the new normal,” Caitlyn replies.
