Shervin Roohparvar Defends GG Following Face-off in Belize
The #Shahs BFF takes us inside that fiery confrontation with his longtime pal.
The ceviche hit the fan when Golnesa "GG" Gharachedaghi and her longtime pal, Shervin Roohparvar, faced off during the Shahs of Sunset's trip to Belize on Sunday's episode. The duo got into a war of words at dinner — and things got really heated when GG confronted Shervin after she thought he had sided with the rest of the crew, who have been attempting to get to the bottom of her health and drinking struggles (most notably, questioning how sick she really is with rheumatoid arthritis). While it's been clear through the season that Shervin has tried to defend GG, he says that in that moment several factors were contributing to their argument.
"At that moment, where I kind of snap, I had been awake for 30 hours," Shervin told The Daily Dish, explaining that the group's extensive travel from L.A. to a very-hot Belize wore him down. "My routine's messed up. My nutrition [is] totally messed up and we drink heavily. I'm asleep [at the table] and she's just kind of in her own world, running her mouth, and she's throwing these jabs at me. I didn't want to engage. I was so tired. I wake up and I remember thinking, listening, I'm like, 'She's still talking s***,' and I just kind of broke, and she got up came over. I gave her my piece of mind. All of these things added to get me there." Shervin believes GG may not always see that he is on her side, as was evident in Belize. "Sometimes you have somebody's back and they don't see it," he said. "So your job just becomes double hard and a lot of times, sometimes you got to tell your friend something they don't want to hear. But that's what makes you a real friend and I legitimately care about her."
Despite questions from Reza Farahan about how sick she really is, what remains true for Shervin is the fact that he does believe that GG is suffering from RA — even if she doesn't always have the best handle on how to discuss the illness. "I was there for her surgery because of the scar tissue had to come out because she couldn't close her fist anymore," he said. "So it's a very difficult thing she's going through. I think that she doesn't necessarily exaggerate; I think that she is sitting in doctor's office hearing a bunch of words and terminology that she doesn't necessarily know and then she takes these little power words like 'radiation,' 'chemotherapy,' and she's scared of them. And they're the ones that are most prevalent in her mind when she thinks back and that's what she shares." He then clarified the type of treatment GG has received thus far. "What she's had is, it's similar to chemotherapy," he said. "It's a drug that's used in conjunction with chemotherapy during chemotherapy."
Despite their vacation confrontation, Shervin said that today, the duo remains as close as ever. "When you have true friendship and true camaraderie, I think we're even beyond that, I consider us like siblings — it's normal," he said. "Who doesn't fight with their brother and sister?"
