Sorry, NYC Men: Patti Stanger Thinks You're Selfish
Manhattan's single males "hold on to their money," says Patti.
Patti Stanger blames the man.
"I'm disappointed to see the terrible state of the dating scene," our resident cupid tells the New York Daily News after going east for a season of Millionaire Matchmaker. "Men in New York are more selfish these days. They want to hold on to their money, and they're in no rush to find a mate."
Many New York single ladies are nodding their heads right now. So what are we to do? For starters, stop considering Brooklyn a long distance relationship. "On my show, I heard women turning up their nose about guys who didn't live in the right neighborhood," the Millionaire Matchmaker explains. "It was disgusting! Stop judging, at least until you go on the first date."
Now in fairness to the Wall Streeters and Lower East Side hipsters alike, Patti praises them for nailing the buy-me-dinner concept. "One of the best parts of the dating scene in New York is that men understand that dinner is an absolute must!" gushes the love seeker. "Women love to be fed, and dinner is a necessity."
The Big Apple is a melting pot of men, so Patti suggests figuring out your "type" and then go find him! Want a guy's guy? "Together with your girlfriends, rotate buying tickets to Yankees, Knicks or Rangers games, or better yet, go watch a game at a bar!" Talk about good timing, this weekend there's a Jets playoff game. Park yourself in front of a bar's flat screen and we dare you not to get a number.
