Shep Rose Shares an Update on How Lil Craig Is Doing (EXCLUSIVE)
After Lil Craig's health scare, the Southern Charm-er shared an update on the French bulldog.
Though Shep Rose has long insisted that he doesn't like to be tied down, a French bulldog he affectionately named Lil Craig (yes, after Craig Conover), has stolen his heart.
The Southern Charm-er adopted Lil Craig on Season 6 of the show, and viewers have seen Shep grow into a dedicated dog dad over the years.
Unfortunately, Lil Craig faced a serious health scare on Season 9, Episode 6, which rocked Shep. Find out more about what happened to Lil Craig on Season 9 below, and learn what Shep had to say during a recent chat with The Daily Dish about how his dog is doing today.
What happened to Shep Rose's dog, Lil Craig?
While Shep was out golfing, he received a call from someone at Lil Craig's doggy daycare.
The person reported that Lil Craig had a 108-degree fever, he was throwing up, and he was "breathing very hard."
"They took him to the vet..." Shep told his dad on the phone on Season 9, Episode 6. "Whatever happened almost killed the little guy today."
After learning from the vet that Lil Craig was doing better (though the vet also said that he he wasn't completely "out of the woods"), Shep reflected on the impact that the French bulldog has had on him.
"Lil Craig's meant everything to me, and it's very emotional to think that he would just not be on this earth, because he changed my life," he said on the episode. "He taught me that there's something other than yourself that you're responsible for, and that is such a change for me. Because I was 40 when I got him, and I hadn't thought about anybody else, trust me."

Shep Rose reveals how Lil Craig is doing today
While chatting exclusively with The Daily Dish on October 3, Shep offered an update on how Lil Craig is doing now.
"He's with his grandparents, at my mom and dad's; they love that dog," the Southern Charm O.G. explained about where his pet was while he was spending some time in New York City. "They're retired, [and] their dogs passed away two years ago. I do genuinely believe that it gives them a little bit of something to do, and it gives them a little purpose on a daily basis, in a small manner. Craig's so well-behaved that they love him."
After spending much of the summer traveling (including spending a lot of time out west!), Shep is looking forward to hunkering down in the colder months with Lil Craig.
"I'll go [and] I'll get Craig soon, when I'm moving back to Charleston full time, [which will be] in November, essentially. I'll get Craig and then spend the winter in Charleston, which I love. I love it there, then," he added. "Then [I'll] figure out what I want to do next summer, and where I want to go."
Until then, you can catch Shep on Southern Charm Season 9. New episodes air on Thursdays at 9/8c. Stream episodes the next day on Peacock.
