Danielle Olivera Shares an Exciting Update on Her Fashion App (EXCLUSIVE)

The Summer House cast member said that working on her forthcoming fashion app has been a “labor of love.”

When she’s not living it up on the weekends in the Hamptons in the warm weather, Danielle Olivera is working hard on building her app.

How to Watch

As she revealed on an episode of Summer House back in February 2022, Danielle quit her job in corporate fintech to work on creating her own fashion app. On the show, she referred to the decision as a “make-or-break situation” that left her feeling “scared out of [her] mind.”

Fast-forward more than a year and Danielle spoke with The Daily Dish just in time for Women’s History Month to share the latest update on her forthcoming app and to reveal how she wants her Summer House roommates to get involved.

Danielle Olivera called her forthcoming fashion app a “labor of love.”

During an Instagram “Ask Me Anything” session, Danielle shared that her app (which she co-founded with her business partner, Jim) is aiming to solve the following problems: “Knowing what’s in your closet, knowing how to style what’s in your closet, connecting you with style experts, help shopping, [and] help getting rid of what you don’t need.”

“I’m hoping that I can get it into beta by this summer,” Danielle told The Daily Dish about the progress that has been made on the app. “It is definitely a labor of love, and I have an amazing team, but it’s a small team. I’m looking to raise some capital so we can expand it and get it done a bit quicker.”

Though there is still work to be done, Danielle is really proud of all the progress that has been made thus far.

“But we are starting this from scratch. A lot of it has been built, and it’s really exciting,” she continued. “I actually can’t wait to get into the [Summer House] girls’ closets so I can get them to start using it. They’ll be my first app users, so I’m pretty excited for that, and hopefully that will happen by summer.”

The app is designed for “the everyday female.”

Like the Summer House ladies, Danielle’s ideal user is someone who is on the go and busy both personally and professionally.

“I want [the app] to be for the everyday female [who] is going to work, she’s a professional, she makes her money, she can spend money but sometimes she doesn’t have the time to,” Danielle said. “She doesn’t really know what’s in her closet sometimes, and she’s texting her friends because they’re going out in an hour like, ‘What are you wearing?’”

She added that this person is “the social butterfly [who’s] also a professional.”

“Honestly, I kind of made it for myself,” she joked.

The Summer House cast member does struggle with impostor syndrome.

As a woman of color in the tech industry, Danielle knows what it’s like to break down barriers.

“I love the feedback, and I do it for other people [who] look like me and [who] are like me,” she said, though she admitted that doubts do creep in occasionally.

“But at the same time, I’d be lying if I said that I don’t have impostor syndrome. It is really hard to break into tech, especially as a female, but I have a really great support system,” she continued. “There are moments where there’s doubt: Can I do this? Can I pull this off?”

Fans will find out if she “pull[ed] this off” when her app launches.
