Teresa Reveals the Surprising Way She Found Out Joe and Melissa Weren’t Coming to Her Wedding

Find out how Teresa and Joe Giudice’s daughters reacted to the news too.

Teresa Giudice and Luis “Louie” Ruelas finally said “I do” on The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Gets Married special, but as fans were likely already aware, Melissa Gorga and Joe Gorga weren’t in attendance. What fans might not have known, however, is the surprising way Teresa found out they’d be skipping the wedding.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 premiere May 5th at 8/9c on Bravo and stream next day on Peacock.

“Did he send you a text? Did he call you?” Teresa’s daughter, Gabriella, asked about her uncle ahead of the nuptials during the May 23 special, only for Teresa to respond, “No.”

She then revealed how she actually found out: through Dolores Catania.

“It’s definitely painful,” Teresa shared in a confessional interview. “My parents are not here anymore, and I would’ve loved for my brother to be there. Never in a million years would I have thought he would’ve not been there.”

Teresa also opened up about how “disappointing” it was to tell Gabriella and her other daughters — Gia, Milania, and Audriana — that their aunt and uncle wouldn’t be coming to the wedding. Gia, for her part, was especially affected by the news.

“When I heard he wasn’t coming, I was just like, ‘Wow,’” she said in a confessional of her own. “At this point, it’s like, you really did just completely burn the bridge. Like, it’s over for everybody, including me and my sisters.”

Gia, Dolores, and Jennifer Aydin further discussed the matter at Teresa and Louie’s rehearsal dinner, with Gia telling her mom’s RHONJ castmates, “The only thing that stressed her out was my uncle. And it’s like, that’s sad. You shouldn’t have to feel like that on your special day.”

“I feel bad,” Dolores responded. “There’s a lot of things that aren’t let go. You can’t move forward if you don’t let things go. There’s so much [that’s] built up over the years.”

“It’s been very hard to watch the kids get affected,” she continued in a confessional, “’cause I know Joe was everything to Gia. They loved and adored each other.”

Speaking to Jennifer alone, Dolores added, “It breaks my heart. I want nothing more for [Joe and Melissa] to be there and stand together and to have Joe give [Teresa] away.”

Ultimately, though, Teresa’s big day turned out to be everything she’d dreamed of. As she put it at the end of the wedding special, “I have to say, I feel pretty lucky. Everything’s so perfect.”

Added Louie, “And it’s only getting better.”
