Dolores Catania Defends Teresa Giudice’s Questionable Actions

Andy Cohen has pretty much seen it all when it comes to what can happen at a Real Housewives reunion. But the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host found himself right in the middle of the action during the Season 2 reunion for The Real Housewives of New Jersey. As fans will recall, he was moved aside by Teresa Giudice while she was deep in a heated and emotional conversation with RHONJ alum, Danielle Staub.

How to Watch

All these seasons later, Andy shared with Dolores Catania on WWHL this week how he really felt about that moment. "I really actually was not mad for a very long time," he told Dolores, who told him, "I thought you were mad about that. It wasn't personal, Andy, by the way."

Andy clarified, "I actually didn't think that much of it."

Back in 2016, Andy reflected on that moment in a conversation with Sarah Jessica Parker. "You know when I became famous? For real, when I figured out, 'Oh my God, I'm actually famous' was when Teresa pushed me," he said at that time. "When I came back into the city, I was famous."

In fact, in a separate interview in 2019, Andy noted, "Toughest reunion I ever sat through, probably those early years of Jersey where it was blood warfare."

Teresa Attacks

Andy previously noted another big moment that happened to him during a reunion with the RHONJ cast back in Season 1. "And then, I remember when I had to come out on TV. It was during the first Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion in 2009, and Teresa Giudice’s [then] husband [Joe Giudice] said something that Danielle Staub thought was homophobic, or disrespectful to gays. We had a conversation about it, and Teresa said it wasn’t offensive. I said — and this is way before I started inserted myself into anything — 'Look, I have to say, I’m the only gay guy in the room. I am gay, and it was not comfortable to me.' At the time, it was kind of a big deal, because I hadn’t come out publicly on TV. This was way before Watch What Happens Live, and I guess I had never said it. Weirdly, that was kind of my 'public' coming out."
