Here's How Melissa and Joe Gorga Reacted to Teresa Gudice’s Engagement

Now that Teresa Giudice is engaged to Luis "Louie" Ruelas, her brother, Joe Gorga, is ready to welcome him to the family. The Real Housewives of New Jersey brother is sharing his reaction to the news that his sister got engaged this week to her boyfriend of about a year.

“I’m so excited. I’m so happy for her. [Louie] came in like what she needed," he told Us Weekly, noting that he cried when he heard about the engagement. "She needed that Superman to come in and take her life and fix it, and that’s what he’s doing. I always said she needed a beast of a man, and he is one of them.”

Louie asked Teresa to marry him on Tuesday (October 19) during a vacation in Greece. Teresa's BFF and RHONJ alum Dina Manzo was there, along with her husband, Dave Cantin. The proposal came just months after Teresa and Louie celebrated one year together back in July. And, clearly, he has Joe's seal of approval.

“He’s living up to everything he’s talking about, so I’m just so happy that they’re in love,” Joe said in an interview with Us Weekly. “She’s ecstatic. She loves him. She’s really, really happy. She always wanted to be loved, like, really loved, and he loves her.”

Joe expressed a similar sentiment about his future brother-in-law during Season 11 of RHONJ. "He's amazing," Joe said in an episode back in May. "He's everything you ever wanted in a man. I'm so happy for you."

Both Joe and Melissa knew Louie was going to pop the question ahead of the proposal, and they have each since taken to Instagram Stories to show their excitement about the happy news. “She’s so happy for her,” Joe added of wife Melissa's reaction to the engagement news when speaking to Us Weekly. “Melissa’s a happy person. She’s had a great life. We’re happily in love and we have a great marriage, so Melissa just wants the same [for Teresa].”

Previously, Melissa shared her opinion of Louie in an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. "I like him. I think he's a nice guy. I think she is super happy. They're in that puppy love [stage] right now. So it all seems good. Ultimately, I want her to be happy because if she's happy it's better for the kids, it's better for everyone. She needs to be happy, and she's on cloud nine with him," Melissa said back in February.

This will be the second marriage for Teresa. The RHONJ cast member was previously married to Joe Giudice. The couple announced their separation in 2019 after 20 years of marriage. They later finalized their divorce in 2020.

Joe Gorga shared with Us Weekly that he believes that the couple's daughters told Joe Giudice about the engagement. Next up for the family, according to Joe Gorga, will be a party celebrating Teresa and Louie's engagement because, as he said, "it’s a beautiful thing and I love it.”
