You Won’t Believe Why Craig Conover Decided to Join Southern Charm (Hint: It Involves Cameron Eubanks)
Craig also revealed the hilarious thing he Googled before officially saying "yes" to the show.
It's hard to imagine Southern Charm without Craig Conover.
When viewers first met Craig on Season 1 of the series back in 2014, he was an aspiring attorney who had just completed his final year of law school. Fast-forward a decade, and Craig is now the founder and creator of a pillow company, Sewing Down South; he's passed the bar; and he's appeared on other Bravo shows like Summer House and Winter House alongside his girlfriend, Paige DeSorbo.
Though Craig has been an integral part of Southern Charm, it turns out that he initially thought long and hard about whether he should join the show.
During a recent podcast appearance, Craig shared the exact reason why he decided to appear on the show, and how alum Cameran Eubanks Wimberly helped him come to that decision.
Why Craig Conover Joined Southern Charm
While chatting on the Good Guys podcast, Craig opened up about his decision to join the cast of Southern Charm. Back then, Craig said he wasn't sure whether to continue pursuing his law career, or to take a chance on joining the show. He spoke to one of his law school professors, who assured him that he could still have a legal career if he appeared on the show. However, he still wasn't fully convinced.
"What it came down to, is, I woke up one morning, and I was like, 'What would I regret more — not doing this and always wondering 'what if?' or doing it and having to deal with the consequences later?" he explained. "So, I said yes."
How Cameran Eubanks Wimberly Helped Craig Conover Decide to Join Southern Charm
In addition to thinking about his potential future regrets, Craig also spent some time researching his options before agreeing to be a cast member on the show.
"I spent a lot of time Googling, 'Should I do a reality show?' back then, and it didn't produce any results," he said. The lack of results then encouraged him to reach out to someone that Bravo fans know very well.
"So I actually Facebooked Cameran Eubanks at the time from [The] Real World, and I was like, 'Hey, I have no one else to ask, can I pick your brain?' And she was like, 'I have actually been asked to do the show, too,'" he said. "And then we decided to do the show."
The rest, as they say, is history.
