Throwback Thursday: Patti Stanger Graduates
The Matchmaker also shares how her New Jersey roots helped her career.
Ever wonder what our Bravolebs looked like before they were Bravolebs? Each Thursday, we''ll celebrate #TBT and dig through the archives for a vintage photo from the past—or revisit a memorable moment from one of our shows—and share some back story on the picture. This week, we re-visit a classic photo of Patti Stanger.
Before she started playing cupid for ultra-wealthy singles, Patti was born and raised in Short Hills, New Jersey. In this vintage photo, she celebrates her 1979 graduation from Millburn High School. Even as a teen, she had a gift for setting people up. During one school dance at a local church, Patti remembered recently, "The priest said to me, 'No one's talking to anyone.' I walked over and I picked up the guys—one of the O'Connell brothers—for my friend."
Still, Patti’s keen instincts told her something major was missing in the matchmaker marketplace. So, she naturally took things into her own hands and founded the now-famous Millionaire’s Club in 2000. She credits her New Jersey upbringing with her success. "Anytime you see anyone from Jersey, Bruce Springsteen on down, we take no prisoners. We tell it like it is. We're worse than a New Yorker!"
