Dr. Tiffany Moon on Her Mom's Reaction to RHOD and Where They Stand Today
The RHOD newcomer became emotional when speaking about the relationship she shares with her mother.
Tiffany Moon opened up about a vulnerable part of her life on the April 13 episode of The Real Housewives of Dallas. During a conversation with D’Andra Simmons, the anesthesiologist reflected on her relationship with her mother.
“In a way, I’m jealous of the relationship that you [and Mama Dee] have with each other because you’re so close. She knows everything that you’re doing,” Tiffany explained, although D’Andra suggested that’s “not necessarily good.” “Me and [my mom] never had built that special mother-daughter bond. We just never had it.”
In an interview during the episode, Tiffany got emotional when explaining, “Thirteen is when I started to realize not all families are like my family. I don’t think my parents once ever told me, 'I love you, I’m proud of you,' or hugged me. Ever.”
After Tiffany opened up, D’Andra suggested she work towards a better relationship with her mother. As the episode aired, D’Andra took to Twitter to share a message for her friend: “I love that [Tiffany] is comfortable enough with me and can share stuff about her past. This is what a true friendship looks like! Love you.”
Tiffany shared an update on Twitter about her relationship with mom, writing, “Communication is so important and my mom and I are learning how to better speak to each other. What a cathartic conversation.” She also added the hashtag “Love you mom.”
During an April 13 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (video above), when asked how her mother reacted when she revealed she was going to be a part of RHOD, Tiffany replied, “My mom doesn’t watch reality TV, so I don’t think she had any idea what I was getting into. Or did I.”
