Tom Colicchio Recalls Filming Top Chef Season 17 Finale in Italy Before COVID-19 Pandemic
"It was just an amazing experience," the Top Chef judge said of filming in Italy in late 2019 for Season 17.
As Season 17 of Bravo's Top Chef begins to reach its dramatic conclusion, the remaining All Stars Cheftestants will head to Italy to cook it out to victory or end up packing their knives and going home in the upcoming finale.
The Italy-set finale episodes marks the first time in Top Chef history that it will take place in Europe. The Season 17 finale was filmed last fall and now judge Tom Colicchio is reflecting on being in Italy before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
In a special message from Tom, above, he opened up about that emotional experience.
"We spent some of October and November in Italy and I got to say, it was just an amazing experience," Tom recalls in the video above. "People were just so warm and open. Obviously our hearts go out to the devastation because of COVID and I'm looking forward to the day I can go back to Italy and enjoy their hospitality once again."
In Italy, the remaining Cheftestants will get to go truffle hunting, take in the sights, and indulge in some of the best cuisine in the world.
In the above message about the Top Chef Season 17 finale in Italy, Tom added, "Hopefully our final episodes provide some break with what's going on in the world right now. So, thank you and stay safe."
