What Advice Did Jax Taylor Give Tom Schwartz Before the Wedding?

Considering all the drama and arguments between Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney-Schwartz on their journey to happily ever after, viewers had some doubts about their chances even after they made it down the aisle. The newlyweds dubbed that type of negative critique of their relationship "nonsense" — and we don't blame them. So when pal Jax Taylor recently stopped by The Daily Dish HQ, he had a message for the haters:

"Everybody's got an opinion. It's so funny. If everybody would just take care of themselves in this world, it would be better," he said, before giving us an update on how the newlyweds are doing now that they have several months of marriage under their belts following their woody August nuptials.

"Well they just got married. The first year is always the hardest they say, right? But I think they've been great as far as I can see," Jax shared. "I don't know what goes on behind closed doors, but I think Tom and Katie have been great. So far, so good."

And Jax is quick to note he knows what he's talking about since he lives just a stone's throw away from the newlyweds. "I mean I live down the hall from them, so I would see it first," he added.

Perhaps it was Jax's own advice to the couple helped them in some way to work out some of their issues before their big day. "People [say], 'You were really adamant about saying maybe you shouldn't get married.' I wasn't saying, 'Don't get married,' because I don't like Katie — I love Katie and I love Tom," he recalled. "[I added,] 'But I also think maybe you should pump the brakes a little bit. You pushed this wedding together in six months. Most people stay engaged for a year, year-and-a-half, sometimes two years. She's getting pressure from everybody. You guys are arguing all the time; maybe you should ease off a bit and maybe take some time and think about it.'"

Katie and Tom's wedding aired during Monday's Vanderpump Rules season 5 finale. Next up, the crew will gather for the season's reunion event, starting on April 3 at 9/8c. Check out a preview, below.
