Kristen Doute Actually Thought Having Ariana Madix as a Groomsman Made a Lot of Sense
But the #PumpRules pal wasn't exactly happy about it.
Tom Schwartz popped the question to Ariana Madix during last week's episode of Vanderpump Rules. OK, a question. Tom asked Ariana to be one of his groomsmen, along with her boyfriend Tom Sandoval and Jax Taylor.
Katie Maloney revealed her picks for her bridesmaids the episode prior, which included Stassi Schroeder, Scheana Shay, and Kristen Doute, who, as you may recall, has never had a good relationship with Ariana — or any relationship with her, for that matter. So you may be surprised to learn that Kristen thought Tom's decision to make Ariana a part of the wedding party was actually a logical one. "Ariana's always been closer, I think, to Schwartz and the guys than she was to our group anyway, so I felt she was always gonna be some part of the wedding," Kristen told The Daily Dish. "Plus, she's attached to Sandoval's hip, so she'd be around anyway."
By the same token, Kristen also thought Katie did the right thing by not making Ariana one of her bridesmaids. "I think it was a really good decision on Katie's part to not make her a bridesmaid. [Ariana] actually made it abundantly clear that she would be relieved to not be a bridesmaid, I think, is what she told a few of us. And so it made it an easy decision for Katie," Kristen explained. "It was an awkward conversation, but that way, she could still be a part of the wedding and not have to be around all of us. So it was better for her, and it was definitely better for me."
But to say that Kristen was happy with Tom's decision to make Ariana a groomsman would be going a little too far. "When I first found out that she was a groomsman, it was just like, insert giant eye roll. Like, of course you are, Ariana. Of course you're stoked about that. Of course you're the guys' girl, like go crack a beer with the dudes. Come on," Kristen said. "But she's important to Katie and Tom. And Sandoval is like the most important person in Tom's life, other than Katie, I guess. So it really just did make sense. I mean, of course, I was shocked by it, but I gave in. And I didn't really have to be around her that much."
We can only imagine that Kristen got a little bit of schadenfreude when Ariana ate an "ass shrimp" and "ass steak" in order to be initiated into this group of groomsmen (clip above).
