'Top Chef' Producer on Emmy Fall
Magical Elf Erica Ross laughs about her 'Top' tumble.

Well it was the Emmy tumble seen 'round the world. Top Chef wins for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program, the producers, both Bravo and Magical Elves, rise from their seats to accept their Emmy, and then -- yikes! -- one of them goes flying! There are videos circulating on the Interwebs called "girl falls at Emmys," and the like, sooo I decided to reach out to Ms. Erica Ross, EMMY WINNER, and ask what happened! Thankfully she had a sense of humor about the entire thing (as any Magical Elf would...):
I came, I tripped, I won an Emmy ... barefoot!
Getting my first Emmy nomination in recognition for the work that I love was amazing. Being able to invite my mother and revel in the glitz and glamour of the Emmy event with my co-workers and friends was a reward in itself. When they called the Reality Competition category, it never crossed my mind that we would actually win. My heart wasn’t pounding and my face wasn’t red. My shoes weren’t even strapped on. And this apparently was a really BAD idea! Excited and in shock after the announcement, I lost one shoe before I even made it to the aisle. And then, it happened ... I tripped over something! As I was airborne I kicked off my other shoe, made an off-camera recovery, and walked on the stage barefoot and proud. Little did I know my trip was caught on camera and in my 15 seconds of fame I became an Emmy Award winner and an Internet sensation!!

Now, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I'm ready to blame the guy sitting in the row in front of us for this one. If you can see from this freeze frame, right after Erica fell, he moved the program that was on the floor under his seat ever-so-slyly.
So, it seems clear to me that it was laid sloppily in the aisle and the poor girl tripped over it. Honestly, I have no idea if that's what she tripped over, but I'm just going to blame this guy anyway.
Anyway, I'm certain Erica will never forget her Emmy experience now, and I'm sure the moment was nothing a few glasses of Top Chef Quickfire wine couldn't wipe away.
But if you forget, you can watch the whole thing:
