Vicki Gunvalson Reveals She Was Hospitalized: “Doctor Didn’t Want Me To Leave...”

Vicki Gunvalson appeared on RHOC Season 18 to give an update on her life and health.

By Sophie Vilensky

At BravoCon 2023, Vicki Gunvalson took home the first ever Wifetime Achievement Award for her honorable work as a Bravoleb over the years — and for good reason. Even though she's no longer a full-time cast member on The Real Housewives of Orange County, she's a forever favorite who fans care about deeply.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on Peacock and the Bravo App.

During Season 18, Episode 4 of RHOC, Vicki appeared on camera while visiting her pal Shannon Storms Beador and offered an update on her life.

"We have so much to catch up on. I have a staph infection," said Vicki as soon as she walked through the door. "The doctor didn't want me to leave the hospital, but I checked myself out because I'm very, very busy."

The medical professional had other concerns, too. (Luckily, they happened to be unwarranted.)

"He goes, 'How's your vagina?' I'm like, 'my vagina is perfect,'" added Vicki.

Do You Remember the First Season of Every Real Housewives Show?

While Shannon told her this was God's way of telling her to slow down, the insurance professional said no thanks — she'd rather continue living her life at full speed.

"I don't want to be slowing down because then you're sedentary. The grass is going to grow around you and you're not going to be able to see through it," the OG of the OC explained in a confessional. "I like being busy. I'm a type A girl. I have enough money to retire if I wanted to, but what would I do?"

Vicki Gunvalson's life today

Today, Vicki Gunvalson is still bopping around the OC. She's the grandmother of four beautiful grandchildren (her daughter and son-in-law, Briana Culberson and Ryan Culberson, are the proud parents of three little boys and one girl).

As far as her romantic life goes, Vicki is dating a man named Michael Smith. The pair have been together since 2022.

What does Vicki Gunvalson do for a living?

Surprise, surprise! Vicki is still running Coto Insurance.

"Vicki Gunvalson started her insurance and financial services career in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois in 1991 and quickly became the top agent in her company within the first year of her career," reads the company's website. "With sheer determination and a passion for business, she was able to build Coto Insurance & Financial Services, Inc., into one of the most successful insurance agencies in the entire country."

To see more Vicki, tune into The Real Housewives of Orange County on Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo. Episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
