What Does Marlo Hampton Do for a Living? We Finally Have the Answer
The Real Housewives of Atlanta bestie lists her many jobs.
For years, one question has plagued fans of The Real Housewives of Atlanta like no other: What exactly does Marlo Hampton do for a living? Many have posed that question since we first met Marlo on RHOA, including her fellow Georgia Peaches. However, we haven't really been able to get to the heart of Marlo's career — that is, until now.
When The Daily Dish caught up with Marlo earlier this season, she called the speculation surrounding her occupation "just crazy." She also has an explanation for why it may seem like she has a multitude of diverse interests. Marlo has described herself as everything from a style maven to an etiquette expert over the years, after all. "I'm an Aquarius. You always have to have 50 different things going on — not one, two, three, four, five," Marlo explained. "If it ain't 50 or more, something's wrong."
Well, Marlo doesn't have quite 50 jobs, but she's pretty darn close. Find out all of the ways that Marlo spends her days, below.
She's a Designer
Marlo doesn't just wear other people's clothes; she also designs her own. She's launching an accessories brand called Arie and Emma, which is named after her grandmother and mother, respectively, that will include sunglasses and jewelry. You can get in touch with your shady self by purchasing some fierce T-shirts that feature the words "The Shade Is Real" and Marlo's fabulous face through her website now.
She's a Stylist
Marlo thanks her grandmother Arie and mother Emma for her passion for fashion. "Both of them are always fabulous at church with the big hats, the jewelry, so it's literally in my DNA," she told The Daily Dish.
Marlo has been sharing her sartorial expertise with the world as a stylist with the majority of her work being done as a "ghost stylist," kind of like a ghostwriter where it's not publicly known that you're providing styling services for an individual. "I like that better. I feel good when I see my work out there," she said. "I just give them a wink, 'Hey, thanks for the check. You look fabulous.'"
She Owned a Boutique
The RHOA BFF previously made her mark on the Atlanta fashion scene when she opened up her very own boutique in 2008, according to her website. The boutique has since closed, and now Marlo said she's interested in opening up a different kind of style destination in the future. "It'll be more like a fashion house where you can come and pull clothes, be styled, where you can rent pieces and things like that," she explained. "You get the Marlo experience."
She Has a Hair Line
Marlo also said that she has her own hair line, which she flaunts in the above photo. "It's just beautiful," she gushed.
She's a YouTube Star
If you're looking for more fashion and beauty advice from Marlo (and, like, who isn't?), look no further than her YouTube channel where she posts videos that give a glimpse inside her closet and let you get to know even more about her life outside of RHOA.
She Does Real Estate
Marlo named real estate as another area she works in when speaking with The Daily Dish. Don't we all want to live in a home as amazing as "The Hamptons"?
She's an Etiquette Expert
Marlo always comes prepared to school the RHOA ladies as a self-proclaimed etiquette expert. And now she's blessing you with her top rules of etiquette: "Always wear 5-inch heels wherever you enter into. Say whatever's on your mind. Be unapologetic. Smile. It helps a lot when you smile. Give two f---s about what anyone thinks about you. Always say 'thank you.'"
Duly noted.
She Started a Nonprofit
After growing up in the foster care system, Marlo was inspired to help other young women going through that same experience achieve success as they enter adulthood. That's why she started the nonprofit Glam IT UP in 2011.
Through this organization, Marlo mentors girls 13 to 18 and treats them to a bit of the glamorous life in an effort to encourage them to strive for success. Past events have included a trip to a WNBA game and a Christmas brunch at Kandi Burruss' Old Lady Gang restaurant. "My Glam It UP girls, I tell them, 'The world is yours. If you can dream it, you can achieve it," Marlo shared. "So I just hope they look at me and say, 'Dang, well, Ms. Marlo was in foster care, and she aged out. I can do it, too.'"
She's an Aspiring Author
You could be seeing Marlo in a book store near you soon. "I have a book that I'm working on, a cocktail book. Not the etiquette book yet, but this is a cocktail book where you'll be able to sit it on your table and just see gorgeous pictures of me in fashion," Marlo said. "So I'm excited about that."
So what else will Marlo do next? "I'm good at just about anything," she told The Daily Dish. "I'll try anything. Usually when I try it, I can do it."
For now, you can catch Marlo hanging out with the RHOA squad in unforgettable moments like the one, below.
