Nema Vand Just Shared a Major Update About His Career
The Shahs of Sunset cast member is ready for his next challenge.
Nema Vand is ready for his next chapter — or, maybe, to give you your close-up. During the June 13 episode of Shahs of Sunset, Nema met up with his younger sister to chat about what he's up to these days and how he was ready to take a leap in his career.
"You know what I thought I was 100 percent going to do out of college?: be a lawyer. No, are you kidding me? Like, me in front of a judge? Please," he shared with his sister, Sarah, who opened up about having a hard time trying to find her passion in college at UCLA during the touching Season 9 moment. "The thing is, you have to get all of these different kinds of things under your belt to figure out what it is you're passionate about doing. What is it that makes you happy? 'Cause you can't control tomorrow," Nema further noted.
He then opened up about his own recent business struggles to his younger sibling. "Four months ago, the pandemic crushed the company. And it's a reality in my life. It sucks. But it's an opportunity for me to pivot. I've wanted to get into directing forever, and this company's kept me complacent," he said. "Now that it's not in my life, this is the time."
From there, Nema shed more light on his career goals. "I'm at a crossroads, too. I think directing is the next step for me," he then revealed in an interview in the episode, adding that he had the goal of owning his own media company.
And it seems that things are moving in the right direction. Nema shared an update about the new endeavor this week on Instagram, confirming that he's directing a new show in which "we're giving someone in your life the best day ever." Followers can then nominate people in their lives for the honor. Nema added, "[Heart emoji] — can’t wait to maybe meet and work with one of you!"
The announcement even caught the attention of his Shahs of Sunset co-star Mercedes "MJ" Javid, who commented: "goood job!"
In addition to that, Nema also hosts a podcast, Off Brand with Nema Vand. He launched the show in 2020. "It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time," he wrote at the time of the launch. "The show is lighthearted and fun, and I promise to actually let my guests speak."
So far, he's had an array of guests on the show, including MJ and Shahs of Sunset alum Shervin Roohparvar.
Also in 2020, Nema directed a music video that was filmed completely in quarantine. "The Senses quarantine music video is up! Shot 100% remotely, this project connected me with people from around the world — all of us weirdly bonded by the pandemic and a mutual love for music," Nema said of the visual on Instagram. "We laughed on zoom, swapped life stories, and I walked away with many new friends. What more could a guy ask for?! ... And much love to my Bravo fam for being involved."
