Whitney Rose has a misconception to clear up.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City on Peacock and the Bravo App.

On the November 11 series premiere of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Whitney renewed her vows after 10 years of marriage to her husband, Justin. She also opened up about her family’s initial reaction to her husband, and the effects it had on both of their lives.

“When I married Justin, I was five months pregnant, and I was wearing my high school prom dress, standing in front of about 50 people who didn’t want us to be together,” Whitney explained in an interview during the episode, adding that there is an 18-year-age gap between the two. “We had this hot office romance that we were trying to hide from everyone because we were both married to other people.”

Heather Gay, who attended the vow renewal, noted, “Whitney and I are cousins. She fell in love with Justin, they had this elicit, torrid affair, and as a result, they were both excommunicated from the church.”

In the episode, Whitney explained that she “comes from a long line of Mormonism,” adding, “I guess you could say it is a very big deal that I am no longer Mormon.” However, she took to Twitter after the premiere to clear the air about what actually happened.

“For those who have watched the 1st episode of RHOSLC on @bravotv, there is something I want to correct,” she tweeted. “Contrary to what one of my cast mates stated, I WAS NOT EXCOMMUNICATED from the Mormon church. I chose to walk away.”

She continued her clarification in another tweet, writing, “Although I no longer identify as a Mormon, I still have a deep love and admiration for all of my Mormon friends and family.”

Heather responded to Whitney’s tweets by quote-tweeting the second one, adding some loving heart emojis.
