Why Is Jacqueline Laurita Defending Jenny McCarthy?
The actress' comments on her son's autism spawn kudos from the RHONJ star.
Jenny McCarthy has been an outspoken advocate for autism awareness since her son Evan was diagnosed with the developmental disorder: she's written books, spoken at engagements and used her celebrity to garner as much support for those living with autism as possible.
She's got some controversial opinions—namely that vaccines cause autism—and recently came under fire for some remarks she'd made. As we know, Jacqueline Laurita is also a mom to a boy with autism. Though Jacqueline tends to shy away from ruffling feathers, she's Team Jenny on this one and took to her Twitter account to defend the activist and comedienne.
There are a lot of rumors flying around about Jenny McCarthy and whether or not Evan is actually autistic, but here's a quick summary of what's going on: Radar Online published a piece this weekend (it's since been taken down) that claimed that Jenny made a statement about Evan not having autism in a "recent" Time Magazine article. She took to her Twitter account over the weekend to address the comments, calling them "blatantly inaccurate and completely ridiculous."
According to Jenny, the alleged article isn't new at all, but one that Time ran in 2010 and one that doesn't actually offer up a quote from her of this nature. Jacqueline backed her up, retweeting her thoughts and pointing out that McCarthy, despite her at times controversial and debatable statements, has done a great deal to raise awareness for the condition afflicting her son.
