Steve Gold Explains Why He Kept His Baby News Secret — Even from the Million Dollar Listing Agents
“I totally thought he was joking,” Ryan Serhant said about when he heard the MDLNY agent's happy news.
We were all pleasantly surprised when we heard that Steve Gold had welcomed his first child with girlfriend Luiza Gawlowska in June. But we're not going to lie; we did feel a little miffed that the Million Dollar Listing New York agent kept the happy news a secret for so long. At least now we know we weren't the only ones.
Steve also didn't tell fellow MDLNY agents Fredrik Eklund and Ryan Serhant about his and his girlfriend's pregnancy news until just a few weeks before his public announcement. “He surprised us,” Ryan recently told Page Six, adding that Steve shared the news at a housewarming party for his new apartment. “He introduced us to his girlfriend for the first time, and she turns around and she’s super pregnant.”
Ryan said he didn't believe Steve at first. “I totally thought he was joking,” he said. “Steve’s a funny guy, so I kind of thought because we were showing up with our baby and [Fredrik] has his two kids, maybe he was, like, ‘Oh, let’s pull a joke on them,’ but no. It was real and a baby came out.”
Fredrik had a very different reaction when Steve broke the news to him two days before that housewarming party. “I had no idea,” he told Page Six. “I got very emotional. Also, he tricked me and said he was having twins, so I think I got tears in my eyes.”
Steve told Page Six that he and Luiza were so private with the pregnancy because they wanted to “keep this to ourselves and cherish this for a long time.”
“We were telling people, but just not broadcasting it to the world,” Steve said.
Steve opened up about Luiza, whom he started dating in August 2018, during the MDLNY Season 8 premiere. "The market is a tank, but something else in my life is sky high," he shared. "After all these years, I guess, of searching, I've finally found someone that just gets me."
