Many elements of the shows cross over, only we one-up LC and their reality gang in every way.
This week, while reviewing Vanderpump Rules, The Hollywood Reporter astutely presented the following observation:
The Real Housewives formula is still in play here, which Evolution Media is old hat at, but Vanderpump Rules also has a narrative angle more in common with MTV's The Hills than anything, as it follows the always compelling story of young people trying to make it in Hollywood.
The Hills, you say? There's no doubt VR owes a tip of the hat (or maybe a wink of the press-on eyelash) to the MTV reality juggernaut, but frankly, we're happy to argue that Vanderpump one-ups The Hills in pretty much any aspect you can think of. Hotness of the cast? Pshhhht -- no brainer. Marriage-destroying infidelity discussion within the first 2 minutes of the show? Mmm-hmmm. Oh, and did we mention how hot everyone is? And that they have a love octagon going on among them? Anyhoo, rather than write it, we thought we'd present a visual argument to plead our case of Vanderpump being a new, improved and steamier version of The Hills:
