Will Winona Ryder Grace Our 'Heathers' Reboot?

"We'd love to have her," reboot scribe Jenny Bicks says.

Could basically the only living character from the original Heathers be making her way onto Bravo's reboot? If writer Jenny Bicks has her way, Winona Ryder will be bringing all sorts of chainsaw-copulating Veronica to the show.

"If Winona Ryder wanted to come in and play something, we'd love to have her ... It's a fun way of casting new women that are around her but also her kids," Bicks, who's been tasked with bringing the '80s cult favorite to the small screen, told The Hollywood Reporter about the potential of Winona joining the cast.

There haven't been any cast announcements yet, but the premise of the show cuts to 20 years after the big high school explosion that left JD smoldering and Veronica the lone mean girl, and two decades later, she now returns to Sherwood with her own teenage daughter. And yep, you guessed it, there's a new clique of badly behaved tweens to contend with -- The Ashleys.

Bick says she hopes the new project draws in both fans who loved the original, as well as those who aren't familiar with it but can relate to the new version. "I think there's that sense of the people who know the original would love to see that but then there's also this opportunity for this whole new generation who doesn't know Heathers the way we do to be introduced to it in a new way," she said. "Like what's happening with [the CW's] The Carrie Diaries right now -- people who don't know the old show but can be introduced to a new show."
