Oreo Came Up With This Year's Best Novelty Gift (Since Taco Bell’s Ugly Christmas Sweaters)
Oreo rounds out a year of wild ideas to reinvent its classic cookie.
Oreo has had quite the banner year, with the release of wild (and wildly popular) new flavors, including Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, Pistachio Oreo Thins, Rocky Road, and the brand new Peppermint Bark Oreos filled with sugar crystals.
But the company's ultimate mic drop of 2018 has to be the release of the super creative Music Box Cookie Record Player, which actually plays Oreo-themed songs when you put an actual Oreo on top — and it even changes if you take a bite of the cookie and then try to play it again! Look — we're calling this the coolest thing in holiday gift ideas for mass-market foodies since Taco Bell's ugly Christmas sweater collection.
The Oreo device has a mini recording feature so you can record a short message, which is nothing short of magical. The only problem is that you run out of music when you run out of cookies, so you'll want to load up — luckily, the player supports any flavor of Oreos.
"The idea itself is obviously super playful, so it's definitely in the brand DNA of Oreo," Jen Hull, the growth platform lead for North America e-commerce at Oreo parent company Mondelez International, told AdAge.
It's a hot ticket for the holidays that has gone in and out of stock, so keep an eye on it if you want it!
