Sherri Shepherd Has Dropped 25 Pounds on the Keto Diet — and Has Gone 280 Days without Sugar!
The former View co-host has undergone a major physical transformation thanks to the keto diet.
Add Sherri Shepherd's name to the list of famous faces who champion the keto diet. The television personality used the controversial diet — which centers on high-fat, low-carb foods — to shed nearly 30 pounds. Now she's celebrating the milestone in the cheekiest possible way.
In a December 12 Instagram post, the actress smiled wide as she strapped on a pair of black heels. "The day I dreamt of is finally her[e] ... I can buckle my shoes without sounding like I am having an asthma attack! That #joy is indescribable!" she wrote. In previous posts, Shepherd had shared what led her to that victorious movement, which included giving up sugar for nearly a year. (She's almost on Day 280 of no sugar as we type this.)
Chatting with Entertainment Tonight about her weight loss, the former View co-host dished on what went into it. "I say you have to make a commitment to actually loving yourself," she shared. "A lot of times, as women, we don't take the time to love on ourselves and be gentle with ourselves. When I started saying, 'Sherri, just love on you and make a commitment to you,' that's when things started to happen."
Now that she's slimmed down, Shepherd said, "The perk is being able to wear cute clothes (or cuter clothes), but the benefit is, I have so much energy. I get to do stand-up every night and this [show] and I can focus and I have clarity and I feel good inside. So I would say, take time for you and just love yourself."
"The biggest thing is, I got my health and I got my life, and I get to enjoy more time with my son," she continued. "You would give your life for the people you love, but would you live for the people you love? Like, you'd die for them, but would you actually commit to living for them?"
When speaking to Us Weekly, Shepherd did confess that her diet presents its challenges. "It’s hard if you go to a restaurant,” she said. “I look for things that are less than one gram of sugar. I don’t use the salad dressing from the restaurant. I use olive oil. I get a lot of steamed vegetables and protein."
