Dating Shows: A Do or Don't
Stacy has no regrets and thinks more people should try dating shows.
As a single mom living right outside of New York City, I knew I had to put myself out there sooner or later. Divorce can be paralyzing especially when financial problems begin presenting themselves, but I didn't do the show to find money, I did it to give finding love a chance.
I signed on to do "The Millionaire Matchmaker" because it sounded like it would be fun, and it was! How many people can say they went to Barbados on a first date? The experience on the show gave me the confidence I needed to get back in the dating game. To gear up for the show, I started doing more yoga, meditation and dancing again. Unfortunately, the only men in the dance class were gay, so I wouldn't recommend single gals sign up for dance anytime soon if the sole purpose is to meet men. Had the opportunity to appear on the show not presented itself, I may never have had the motivation to start doing things that made me feel better than I already felt. Whether it's going to the gym, shopping, doing charity work, or spending time with my kids, I am a firm believer in finding personal fulfillment. Once I have that, I'll be ready to share my happiness with a significant other.
Even though I didn't find love, I met some great people while filming and have continued to stay in touch with them. Life is a journey and I feel fortunate to have had the experience I did regardless of what Patti thought of me. I'm still living in New Jersey, baking cupcakes for my kids, auditioning, surfing, snowboarding, and doing my favorite thing: dancing.
If going on a dating show gives you something to look forward to and therefore makes you feel good about yourself, then do it! There's no shame in trying something out, at least you can say you did it. One in five relationships begin online, so why not test how many relationships begin on reality TV? I'm 40 something years old and have a laundry list of mistakes I've made, but appearing on "The Millionaire Matchmaker" was not one of them.
