What a fun week. My first client was gay underwear designer Andrew Christian. I’ve heard all sorts of things about him -- that he’s a playboy, he works with all these hot male models in West Hollywood. Here I’m thinking he’s going to be some gay Hugh Hefner. Well, he’s not.
He has a nice beautiful house in The Hills. And I meet him and he’s a calm, nice, and intelligent man who’s really past that whole time in his life and looking for the one. I couldn’t be happier. I love setting up my gay men.

My other client was a blast. I know Kathy Wakile from The Real Housewives of New Jersey and we spent a lot of time together. Well, she and her sister Rosie are coming to LA and Kathy wanted me to help Rosie sort of get her feet wet in the dating arena.
Rosie’s gay, came out of the closet later in life. So she’s missed out on a lot of the dating stuff. By the time she figured out she was gay, she missed out on being a lesbian in high school and college, everything was over. She hadn’t really met anyone.
I meet Rosie and Kathy and Kathy’s husband Rich. We’re going to Georgetown Cupcakes, one of my favorite places in LA. And we’re talking. I get Rosie alone and we talk about the kind of woman she wants. She wants a lipstick lesbian. But she wants someone her own age, who’s not a player, someone real that can really identify with her.

Now, I may not be able to find Rosie the love of her life for the first time out, but I can introduce her to a few appropriate girls and give her some dating practice and see what takes off.
I had a small intimate mixer dinner for Rosie and Andrew. I wanted to make sure that Andrew was real, not the gay Hugh Hefner, he wasn’t just holding court, you know, and kind of interviewing a bunch of gay models.
I wanted Rosie to spend quality time one on one getting to know her peers in the dating arena. This way she gets to spend quality time because in a big mixer both people would get lost. Rosie was really happy. It wasn’t a huge big mixer and she got to talk to her lesbians at the table and get to know them.

In the end Rosie picked Guinevere Turner, a screenwriter and an actress, and I think it was a really good fit. Guinevere is mature enough to not want to just sleep around and is honest and funny. They went kayaking because Rosie wanted to see how her date reacted to outdoorsy stuff. Guinevere did fine. Then they went to a nice restaurant, they went to the Duplex, and had a wonderful time.
Rosie and Guinevere are probably not a match, but Rosie said she felt so much more comfortable getting back out there after the date.
Meanwhile, with the boys, I love that Andrew picked Daniel for his date. Andrew didn’t pick the guy with the model looks. He picked the guy he liked, who’s goofy Daniel and they had a great time together. No gay Hugh Hefner.
Andrew took his date to San Diego to Old Town and they had a wonderful dinner at Prada. And Andrew had a surprise for Daniel. Here’s where we might have run into trouble.
Andrew took Daniel to an underwear fashion show he was holding that night and asked Andrew if he wanted to get up on stage and model for the crowd. Usually I hate testing your clients, but I hate testing your date worse. I think Andrew really just wanted to have fun and Daniel could not have been happier being part of everything. Who knew? I think those two have a really good future.
