Couture Can Cure

Rachel commends her team and her family for helping her make it through this tough week at RZ Inc.

By Rachel Zoe

This week was completely crazed -- I had a style out for Lindex, it was Rodger and my anniversary, it was Oscar week – oh and I was nine months pregnant.

It was the first time Rodger and I are not at Fashion Week for our anniversary, but I still had work to do -- it's a good thing I love my job. Even though we didn't get to celebrate we had so much fun at the opening of the new Tom Ford store here in Los Angeles. I would never miss an opportunity to support him, he is such a genius!

The Lindex shoot was a total success -- thanks to the help of my stellar styling team! Afterwards I was completely exhausted and needed to rest. I kind of reached my breaking point this week. I could tell Rodger was worried -- he even flew in my sister Pamela from Florida. I have the most incredible and supportive family. They keep me grounded. I admire my sister so much, she is an amazing businesswoman and mother –- she reminds me to slow down and try to find balance. Always good advice, but at the end of the day, I still have a job to do.

Once the Lindex shoot was behind me, I could finally focus all my energy and excitement on the Oscars! It was truly one of the most pinnacle moments in my styling career -- so surreal -- I'm still kind of in shock. I was so humbled and honored to have this opportunity. I mean how many people can say they dressed the host for the Oscars? And let's be honest, it was going to take a lot more than a head cold and swollen ankles to keep me out of the office for this week -- after all, there is nothing a little couture can't cure. Thank goodness for that, I mean the gowns were seriously out of control -- vintage Valentino, Atelier Versace, Giorgio Armani Prive, Vivienne Westwood, Tom Ford, Lanvin, Oscar de la Renta, and Givenchy (See all the looks here). What can I say - a girl has got to have options!

Oscar day was a dream -- the entire day went off without a hitch! I spent the morning at Kodak Theater making sure everything was in line and made it home just in time to watch the red carpet. It was the perfect day! One of the most exciting moments of my career as a stylist and the best part -- I got to relish in this moment while curled up, at home, on my couch surrounded by my incredible husband, family, and team -- feet up at last. Well, at least for a moment.
