Kenya and Porsha: Battle of the Beauties

Derek J. shares his thoughts on NeNe and Gregg and dishes on the Kenya/Porsha conflict.

By Derek J

Hey guys! If you’ve been wondering where me (and my two cents) were, I’ve been traveling and making the world beautiful, so I missed the first two weeks of commentary for the new season. Luckily, when I clicked my heels this week, I returned just in time to pour a little “T” and talk about my favorite girls! So, I’ll dive right in…

To start, I must say, I’m lovin’ how Gregg Leakes in trying everything he can muster up to court his way back into his darling diva, NeNe’s, heart. Keep doing what you’re doing Gregg; love always wins! Speaking of NeNe, I have to give it up, because she’s doing her thang! (Yes, I meant to say “thang.” Glee and The New Normal… yes ma’am!). I hate that I missed the chance to traipse through the concrete jungle with NeNe and Cynthia, because I know it was a MESS, but I’m glad Cynthia was able to convince her to be “normal” and ride the subway. Next stop, another try at the street meat cart!

This week you guys also had the pleasure of meeting the adorable new castmate, Porsha Williams Stewart. She’s a doll, right? I have to make sure that I cosign the fact that Porsha’s family legacy is a BIG DEAL in the South. Hosea Williams was a pioneer in the civil rights movement and her family does A LOT for the less fortunate, year round. Kudos to the Williams family. Now, back to the program already in progress. From the moment Kenya and Porsha sat down to lunch, I knew “shade” was on the menu.

Here’s the short version. Porsha’s married and loving. She wants to know why Kenya isn’t. Kenya’s new to the city, so she agrees to support a good cause, but gets to the event and only “five” people were there and she was cold, so she said she was going to the car. “Going to the car” turned into Kenya standing in a “manure” scented driveway as she waited for Miss Lawrence to arrive. But of course, she couldn’t escape that easily. Porsha came out to inform her that her food was getting cold and that she was disrespectful, simultaneously. A few eye rolls, low blows, and ego shots later, the ladies parted ways and the tone was set for the newest “Battle of the Beauties!”

So my closing statement for this week is that things are about to get real. You’ve officially met all of the girls and the claws are about to come out. I’ll also say that I have only just begun to really start spilling the beans. I wanted to take it lightly this week because next week I’ll have a lot to say!
