Recap: A Housewives History Lesson
Ep 8: Kandi and Phaedra meet Peg Leg Ron, and Porsha learns the Underground Railroad was not a real train.
Well the girls finally ended the fighting, got the A.C. and the bus going, and made it to Savannah. Although it wasn't exactly a smooth ride.
Porsha shed a few tears after a discussion of marriage left her feeling that the ladies ganged up on her. Maybe NeNe's bonding trip was a bit premature...
Upon arrival at their Savannah mansion, the Housewives were greeted by this:
And a warning that there were a lot of ghosts roaming around the halls of the place. Now frankly I started to get a bit spooked, because that seemed eerily like the start of every horror film in existence, right? That woman was way to friendly and disappeared real fast after dropping that little haunted tidbit.
Clearly Kenya was on the same wavelength, as she took that opportunity to jump out at everyone and try to scare them.
However no one really reacted, probably because they were all more frightened by the fact that there was so much drama before they even reached Savannah. Ghosts may not have disturbed Kenya, but she was disturbed by the fact that NeNe didn't stand up for herself and give the ladies a piece of her mind. And after a little coaxing, NeNe introduced the ladies a little light NayNay sass and told them they needed to get with the program and be on time. Everyone seemed to be cool with that, except for Kandi:
Who does not like to be talked to like a child, and Phaedra:
Who very quickly read down newcomer Mynique when she tried to speak up on NeNe's behalf. Poor Mynique didn't seem to know what hit her! She kind of seemed oblivious, while everyone else was like oh no she didn't! Exhibit A:
So after the awkward dress down, Kandi and Phaedra left the haunted mansion to clear their heads and in the process met Peg Leg Ron. Who's Peg Leg Ron you ask? He gives ghost tours of Savannah in a giant tourist-filled hearse.
I figured he must have brought the tour over there to show them the spirit of fun, which clearly died before this girls' trip could even get going.
Side Note: I think the wheels were turning in Phaedra's head after meeting Peg Leg Ron. Phaedra's Phinest Ghost Tours of Atlanta...
The next morning Cynthia went over to inform Mynique 1) that she needs to glam herself out more if she wants to hang with these ladies and 2) that she got read to filth last night and needs to learn how to throw some shade of her own. Evidently the secret is looking good, donning a wig, and having at least two gay men with you at all times.

Then off the group went for a historic tour of Savannah, including one of the stops on the Underground Railroad. Now I presume you've watched the episode, so you know what happens next, and honestly...what can you say?

Porsha thought the Underground Railroad was an actual train. There I said it. It honestly leaves you with so many questions. How would one have purchased a ticket? How would it have managed to stay a secret if it was a real train? OK, I will leave this alone now. Finally the girls seemed to loosen up and throw back a few cocktails...until the bomb was dropped that both Kandi and Phaedra dated Mynique's husband Chuck. And Mynique doesn't seem to know all the details, so yeah, it got awkward.

And then even more awkward when Mynique and Porsha somehow got into it when Porsha was joking the Mynique needs to ask her husband what the deal really is and Mynique found her voice and made a dig about Kordell. Just when we were all getting along...
Next week the not fun continues when Porsha cries. Again.
