Kandi Burruss Says Her Latex BET Awards Red Carpet Dress “Almost Killed” Her
“The things we go through for beauty,” the RHOA cast member said.
Kandi Burruss looked incredible in a ruffled latex dress at the 2022 BET Awards on June 26, but it turns out the head-turning look wasn’t quite as effortless as it seemed. In a video on her YouTube channel, The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member revealed how the skintight dress “almost killed” her at the red carpet event.
In the clip, Kandi opened up about her experience with the dress at the ceremony. “The dress is like painted on,” she said of the look. “Very flexible, very comfortable, but hard to get on because it was, like, painted on.”
Kandi went on to reveal that she only made it about halfway down the red carpet in the dress before she began to feel faint and soon realized she was sweating. “I’m doing my interviews, trying to keep my energy up,” she said. “Apparently, the latex was holding the sweat in. So on the outside, I’m looking great, none of us knew I’m sweating underneath this dress. But underneath this dress, I was sweating profusely. I was like drowning in sweat underneath this dress.”
Kandi shared that she had to rush inside and cool off in the bathroom before she was able to return to the ceremony and present an award as planned. Despite the mishap, the RHOA mom earned plenty of praise from fellow attendees about her ensemble.
“I decided to keep the dress on since I was getting so many compliments. I presented with my dress on, and then, as soon as I got offstage, I took that bitch off,” she said, going on to conclude, “Now mind you, it was a beautiful dress. I guess because it was an outdoor red carpet, the dress and the sun did not mix.”
