Mike Hill's Daughter Ashlee Is the Creative Genius Behind Noelle Robinson's Best Looks
Cynthia Bailey's soon-to-be stepdaughter is a talented stylist and fashion designer.
There's much to love about Noelle Robinson's style. Whether she's rocking designer lounge wear, sizzling bodysuits, or the perfect date-night outfit, the daughter of The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Cynthia Bailey regularly pushes the boundaries. Although they're all obviously fierce, there's one thing you may not know about Noelle's looks: they're often styled by Mike Hill's daughter, Ashlee Hill.
BravoTV.com chatted with Ashlee to learn all about what she's up to, what she has planned for the future of her fashion career, and what it's like to work closely with her soon-to-be stepsister (it'll be official when Cynthia and Mike marry in early October).
At the moment, Ashlee’s clintele mostly consists of friends and family. “Whether it’s getting ready for the day, or going out to a special event, I am the go-to for a little fashionable sense!” she says, noting that she aspires to build her portfolio to someday work with stars such as Teyana Taylor, Rihanna and Travis Scott.
Ashlee never had much of an interest in the fashion industry until she began modeling. In fact, she says she “used to despise fashion,” before using it as a tool to express her personality. Though she never used to give fashion much thought, it’s now something she thinks about at all hours of the day.
“My mindset has completely transitioned to continuously plan out my artistic and fashionable ideas to present to the world,” says Ashlee. “My inspiration will strike me throughout the day, and I make a note of it in my sketchbook. My idea later develops into creating a mood board to lay out all my ideas for a shoot or outfit. I then decide on a destination to display my work and photograph it.”
Styling seems to come very naturally to Ashlee, which is likely why her working relationship with Noelle is so successful.
“We work as a team to come to an agreement on any concept,” Ashlee explains, adding that the creative process always starts with picking up an understanding of whatever vibe Noelle is looking to channel for the occasion. Obviously, these stepsisters-to-be have a mutual level of trust. “I personally shop for her wardrobe, too.”
Whether she’s putting together looks for a client, or pulling items from her own closet, Ashlee relies on her own intuition over any outside sources when seeking inspiration.
“I don’t necessarily have a signature style. I say this because I personally style myself based on how I wake up feeling,” says Ashlee. “Who knows? I could be more in tune with my feminine side wearing a fitted dress and heels one day. Then the next day, I’ll wake up and throw on some baggy, distressed jeans with an oversized graphic tee and sneakers.”
So what’s Ashlee’s secret for turning a fleeting feeling into a full-fledged look?
“Mood boards, mood boards, MOOD BOARDS! I can’t say it enough, because they never fail,” she says. However, she also understands that when you’re in a hurry, there’s not always time to plan ahead. “If I’m on my way to go somewhere elaborate with little to no time, I pick one statement piece or accessory and shift my entire outfit to evolve around it.”
In terms of what Ashlee has up her sleeve, her career is just as likely to change as her preference for sneakers versus stilettos.
“I like to classify myself as a creative,” Ashlee says. “I see the beauty of art in everything within my everyday life. I’ve recently been focusing more of my craft toward painting and designing. Be sure to be on the lookout for a new project I’m waiting to announce involving creative direction, fashion, and my newest designs!”
