Delilah Belle Hamlin Responds to Accusations She Lied About Her No-Makeup Photo
"The fact that I even have to stand up for myself and justify this blows my mind," The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills daughter said.
Delilah Belle Hamlin can't help it if she has luminous skin without foundation. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills model daughter, who just made waves with her own collection with UK clothing brand Boohoo, is pushing back against online commenters who accused her of wearing makeup in a selfie that she labeled "clean skin."
It all started when Lisa Rinna's 20-year-old daughter posted a photo of herself after getting lash extensions this weekend, writing that all she had on her face was lipstick and those fluttery lashes. "A good @goi lipstick and clean skin thanks to @treatyoselfstudios for these luscious lashes makin me feel prettier," she wrote, along with a selfie and video of herself with very glow-y skin.
But apparently, Instagrammers didn't believe she wasn't wearing makeup in her fresh-faced post. Delilah ended up disabling the comments and posted a second photo to defend herself. Here's the original selfie in question (swipe to see a video of Delilah's flawless complexion via video):
"The other day people on Instagram were declaring I was a liar based on a photo I posted where I claimed I was wearing no makeup besides the obvious lipstick and lashes," Delilah wrote today on Instagram along with another selfie. "People were saying I was making young girls feel poorly about themselves. The fact that I even have to stand up for myself and justify this blows my mind."
She set the record straight, clarifying this is indeed her skin. "In this photo I am wearing absolutely ZERO makeup. haven’t washed my face since last evening. The only thing I have on are eyelash extensions," Delilah wrote. "I would never want to post anything that would create young girls or boys to feel as though they need to uphold unattainable beauty standards. This is me all oily and sick in bed with no flash and no filter on my face."
Delilah continued, "You should never care what other people think about you however, after getting over thousands of hateful messages it started to hurt me. Just a friendly reminder that cyber bullying ISN'T COOL. And I am being 100% vulnerable and honest. Obviously there are larger issues to be focusing on in the world right now however, I want to use my social media platform for good and to help influence young girls and boys in a positive way so just reinforcing that!"
Mom Lisa (who takes good care of her skin herself) gave Delilah's clapback Instagram so many heart emojis. Lisa wrote in the comments: "Don’t listen to the haters my Love. You are a fabulous Amazing Smart Empathic Giving Strong Loving light of a being. Let your light shine brightly!!!!"
