Erika Girardi Has a Genius Travel Hack: Use This Instead of a Suitcase
Why use a suitcase, when you can trade up for this?
Erika Girardi will be the first to tell you: She does not travel light. (For proof, take a look at how many wardrobe trunks she toted along to Condé Nast, when she temped there for one day.) So, when it comes to packing lots — and lots — of looks for an international trip, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills pal has some solid skills.
In the video above, Erika and her ceative director Mikey Minden broke down their packing process. "An international moment always requires multiple options," Minden said. Erika added: "Too much is not enough, because you don't know what's going to happen." Sage advice, indeed!
So, what type of suitcase can accommodate all those looks? Not many suitcases at all. That's why Minden and Erika recommend using travel trunks instead. Tapping on a large, black wardrobe trunk, Minden said: "This is a must," while Erika added: "If you're a real traveler."
The duo advises against traveling with designer luggage, which gets handled roughly by TSA agents anyway, and opting instead for the kind of black trunks that fashion pros travel with.
So, what should be in those trunks? Multiple pant options and t-shirts with all kinds of necks are a must. Every type of jacket under the sun should also be on your packing list, as well as sweaters, sweatshirts, dresses, and "latex, if you dare," Minden said. Then, there are the boots, the eyewear, the gloves, and the corset to give you a waistline after getting bloated from salty foods on the airplane.
And, don't forget the tights and socks! Erika loves tights by Wolford, and her socks, of course, are Gucci. Inspired to go big for your next packing adventure? Scroll down to shop three travel trunk options that can fit a wardrobe Erika would be proud of!
