Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave Thinks Date Nights Are the Worst
Here's what she and Edwin do instead to keep the love alive.
Keeping a regular date night is a popular way to maintain intimacy and closeness in a relationship. It's a chance to get away from the day-to-day and spend some alone time together, and a simple way to reconnect with a partner after a chaotic week. However, date nights aren't for everyone, if you ask The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills 'wife, Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave. In her recent visit to Bravo's The Daily Dish podcast, she revealed to hosts Megan Segura and Rachael Roberts that she and her husband don't do date nights. That being said, they do have an alternative, which they argue is a better way to spend time together than doing the date night thing.
"We do date days instead of date night," Teddi told Megan and Rachael. "On a Saturday, we'll pick like a four-hour chunk and get a babysitter."
Unspurprisingly, the perfect fit accountability coach and her impressively in shape husband enjoy working out together during these four-hour sessions of daylight togetherness. "We'll go and do like our favorite hike or this class 'Rise Nation' and then like go to a boozy brunch or something," She explained on the podcast. "Like that's our day to kind of enjoy each other."
After spending the first part of the day together, they come back and spend quality time with their kids. "Then we spend the afternoon as a family with the kids and doing the stuff we love."
Their reasons for switching from night to day highlights a valid issue around date night to which many couples can relate, "That way it's not 8 p.m. at night; we're looking at each other exhausted after we put the kids to bed, going 'Alright, let's now go have fun together.'" Date night becomes an obligation and lacks and the excitement of spending time alone together gets lost. "And forced fun is the worst fun."
