Crystal Kung Minkoff Shares a Look at Her Very Fancy $500K Basement Renovation
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member is upgrading her basement with "a bar, movie theater, whole kitchen, wine cellar, [and] golf-simulator room"
When Kyle Richards stopped by Crystal Kung Minkoff's house on the September 15 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Crystal invited Kyle to her basement. The reason? Something major is going on in the subterranean space, and Crystal wanted her friend to get a sneak peek.
"We're building a theater and the golf simulator," Crystal explained, as she led Kyle down to the 1,800-square-foot basement. And that's not all the renovation will entail.
In her interview, the RHOBH rookie shared more details. "It's gonna be a bar, movie theater, whole kitchen, wine cellar, golf-simulator room — high-end game room? I don't know what you call it," Crystal said, laughing.
Back in the basement with Kyle, Crystal said: "The golf simulator, that's the ... thing that's costing money. Because [my husband] Rob's so tall, his swing hits the ceiling. I have to re-dig into the ground. It's like six figures. It's a fortune to do this." She later divulged that the cost for the renovation originally came out to $1 million, but Crystal and Rob decided to "cut it down" with the final total ending up around $500,000.
In her interview, Crystal explained: "Rob is not frugal. He always says, 'I work hard,' and he likes to spend his money and enjoy his life... I will splurge on something if I know it's going to appreciate in value. For example, I'm willing to spend a lot of money on an expensive handbag... Certain bags at a certain level increase in value. Just like, when you renovate your home, it will appreciate. So, if that's frugal, dictionary, put me in there, it's fine."
