Dorit Kemsley Has a Very Unexpected New Business Venture
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member is taking her design skills outside of the fashion industry.
Dorit Kemsley is taking her design talents to the restaurant industry. On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' May 13 episode, Dorit revealed that she is designing a room at Buca di Beppo's Los Angeles location.
"My son's godfather, Robert Earl, who's a very dear friend of ours, owns the chain," Dorit explained to Denise Richards and Erika Girardi in the episode. "When I moved, he's like, 'Well you know Buca's around the corner from you? And I said, 'Oh my gosh, I might need to put my stamp on it.' And he was just like, 'Sure.'"
The Beverly Beach designer is confident about her transition into the world of hospitality. "I decided to invest in just one location and when you're starting a new business venture, your reputation is only as good as what was last said about you," she said in an interview. "Luckily, we have never come across someone fearing to get into business with us."
While Dorit's ideas for the design have yet to be seen, the Italian food chain typically features eclectic, vintage designs in each of its 81 worldwide restaurants.
Erika, who noted she loves the restaurant's chicken parmesan, is already making big plans for when the project is done. She told Dorit, "We have to have, like, a big family dinner!" to which Denise echoed: "That'll be fun."
Dorit also announced the news in an Instagram post the same day, writing alongside photos of herself in the restaurant: "I'm so excited to finally share my newest business venture." She immediately received a supportive comment from Lisa Rinna, who wrote: "The Newest Restaurateur"
