Lisa the Peacemaker
Lisa explains why she wanted to have all of the ladies over to hash out their issues.
Hello everybody! Hope you are all enjoying my favorite time of the year: summer and the return of The Real Housewives of Miami!
So much has happened in everyone’s lives since last season. If you have been following the RHOM gossip, you already know about the demise of Adriana and Lea’s friendship. There is a whole list of reasons why it ended. Egos, betrayal, and new alliances with the other’s enemies to name a few. I personally think it’s much deeper than we see in this first episode and has a much longer history than we may know.
According to news reports, Fredric and Adriana have been legally married for the last 5 years. Nobody wanted acknowledge this elephant in the room, so I did. I also want to mention that there is a big difference in my mind between a marriage license and a ceremony. One is a legal document and the other is what every woman wants to experience -- a beautiful, magical day filled with flowers, beauty, and a celebration to be shared with friends and family. Adriana never had that with Fredric. I hate when everyone avoids the obvious and doesn't speak up. Ana, of course, had to talk down to someone (me), because that’s what she does. Although not very well. She seems to enjoy belittling people. If I needed her “help,” I would have asked, but I only ask for advice from people who are winning in life.
Just to be clear, I wasn't trying to talk negatively about Adriana with the other women. I obviously knew she was about to walk into our conversation at any moment, and I simply wanted to get it out into the open while giving her a fair opportunity to tell her side of the story. She deserves that.
I decided to have the group over to my house so we could reconnect after all the craziness from the past months. I was a little taken aback when Joanna said she was “busy” when responding to my comments about her not being responsive. I sometimes feel the friendship between me and Joanna is not reciprocated. I understand she is very busy traveling for her career, but we are all busy. When something or someone is important to you, you make the time and effort.
The girls in this group think I'm nuts for trying to be the peacemaker. I realized after this season I probably am with this group of women. I've always been a connector; I have a knack for bringing people together. If you're blessed with the gift that can help people, you use it...or try to. There are also not enough days in the year to hang out with all these women individually. I prefer to see them as a group so I can spend more time with my husband and focus my priorities.
This group is obviously going to be around each other a lot, so I prefer it to be full of happy times rather than stressful times. It’s also not enjoyable have to listen to every side repeatedly. I was disappointed that Lea didn't come, because one of the main reasons I had this get-together is for Adriana and Lea. All of these squabbles suddenly became insignificant when Marysol brought up the fact that Elsa was in the hospital with a serious illness. It really put things into perspective. That sobering news jolted the girls back to reality and the tension between Jo and Adriana eased. We’ll see how long that lasts…
