Melissa Gorga Responds to People "Confused" by Her Pea and Ham Pasta Recipe: "Holy Sh-t"
After the RHONJ cast member got some unexpected attention on a video of her "favorite pasta" recipe, she responded to the "good and bad" comments.
When Melissa Gorga woke up on January 17, she was shocked to find that a recipe video she had posted on Instagram the night before was getting a lot of unexpected attention.
"I am, like, hysterical laughing at all of the comments on that pasta," The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member said in an Instagram Story video, noting the clip of her preparing tagliatelle with peas and ham had more than 700,000 views at the time. The comments, Melissa explained, were "good and bad" and some people were "confused."
Although there were commenters criticizing her dish (which was her mother-in-law's recipe) for the choice of ham, the lack of cream, and her use of water, Melissa explained, "It's delicious, and it's light pasta. A lot of people were like, 'Why isn't there heavy cream?' Because I don't do that during the week. And yes, I added water because it mixes with the olive oil, all the flavor's in there from the garlic and oil."
As for her meat of choice, Melissa clarified in a separate video: "For everyone asking, that was Boar's Head ham, just cut thicker...You ask the guy at the deli counter to just cut it thicker and cut it into squares. That's it."
Although Melissa declared she is "not a professional cook," she explained, "I was just trying to help the moms out there that want to make, like, a decent 30-minute meal. It's so quick to make, and my kids go crazy for it. So I thought I was being helpful. So to all of the people out there who enjoyed my little cooking segment, I know I'm not like the best at it but, like, holy sh-t, there were so many comments that were taking it so seriously. "
