The Whole Package
Bethenny responds to LuAnn's "advice," and describes the perfect date!
Thank you so much for buying Naturally Thin! Because of you the book tour is a success and we've been in the top 25. What a rush!
People like to hear themselves talk and truthfully most people, including me, ultimately do what they want. My whole life has been about gut instinct. I've never really had any issues with dating or meeting men. It has nothing to do with looks or games. I have the right personality for dating. I really don't care all that much. Whatever is meant to be is meant to be.
My reaction to LuAnn's advice was that she had no clue what she was talking about and that she must have mistaken me for a geisha. No one is crying for me in the dating department, and hell will freeze over before I act like anything other than myself. I didn't come this far to start dumbing it down or acting distressed or weak or vulnerable or anything. The men I go out with like this package as is.
My date with Todd was lovely and chivalrous and thoughtful and nice. We were both in good spirits so the cameras were totally fine. It wasn't like we were in a bedroom with cameras. I've given men ultimatums on TV and gone through breakups in front of the audience. Having a mini slider and a skinnygirl margarita with a man isn't gonna shake me up.
The perfect date is one that took some creativity and thought. Most men think they need to take me to some major fancy restaurant because I'm a chef. I like the new, quaint, interesting places that have only a few tables. I don't like when someone says "what do you want to do." Have a plan. I like a man who likes to order together and share, who likes dessert and who likes to listen as well as talk. So many men like to impress me by talking about material things or how interesting their pasts were blah blah blah. I like to laugh. A man must open the door, pull out the chair and yes, they must pay.
The best dates end with a kiss and a call the next day. No texting.
I thought Alex's story of how she met Simon was very honest. Sharing it with me was Alex's way of showing some strength and an extension of her "I don't care what people think" attitude. It was a lot of information and I loved that scene. Her dating advice compared to LuAnn's is amusing. You can't write this stuff.
I loved this episode. The whole show really makes me giggle. I thought LuAnn's animal cruelty jokes were particularly funny. The show is slowly building and gets better each week. Stay tuned.
