Swimming With the Sharks
Kelly Killoren Bensimon shares her thoughts on the season premiere, and her first impressions of the cast!
At the beginning of filming, I was extremely concerned about exposing my children, who are 8 and 10 and at extremely impressionable ages, to the cameras. I was adamant about limiting their exposure. Kids need to be kids and not scrutinized by the public when they are so personally judgmental. I recently filmed a TV show on Plum TV called Behind the Hedges, so I was OK with the actual filming. Except for in Behind the Hedges, I usually interview and I am the executive producer, so I have more control than a reality TV show that involves 5 other strong women. It's easier to interview the sharks than swim with them. Being an observer has always been my forte, but now I am the participant. We'll see how I fare.
When I first met the cast I thought that they were a solid "sorority" — five women, all with something to say. My first impression of Jill was at her charity event, which Luann had invited me to.
I didn't spend a lot of time at Jill's benefit because I had a dinner to go to, but I was actually really impressed with how enthusiastic everyone was, and how Jill handled the fact that the policeman marked her dress. I am extremely shy when I don't know people, so, I didn't have a lot of fun, because I was honestly nervous.
If you marry a man, there must be many qualities about them you adore. Regardless of the situation, when you have children you owe it to your children to be respectful of your ex. I both adore and respect my ex. If it wasn't for him pushing me like crazy, I would never have my two beautiful girls and I would probably be hiding in the Hamptons with my kids, dogs, and horses.
