Labor of Love

The Countess shares the inspiration behind her new book, Class with the Countess.

By Luann de Lesseps

I would like to thank all of you who reached out to me with questions and asked for advice. This book would not have been possible without your encouragement. You have been my inspiration. I worked on the book all of last fall. It was challenging to say the least, but I loved writing the book and process that goes along with it. It was more work than I expected, but it was a labor of love.

To say this is an exciting time for me would be an understatement. I have always wanted to write a book and have been keeping my memoirs in diaries since 1990 when I moved to Europe to pursue my career as a model. It was like writing three books, my biography, manners and how-to. My goal is to show readers that anyone can have class. You can't buy it, but you can learn it. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but my story will show by finding the good in every situation, by being open to new experiences and by being receptive to the advice of mentors, I have learned to be comfortable any where, any place, any time. This is much more that just an etiquette book, it's about being comfortable in our own skin, making others feel comfortable in your company, and learning how to get people in your corner.

I thought Jill's apartment apartment looked totally right for Jill. I'm a minimalist so I find it quite busy. Brad did a good job and I think Jill is happy with it. If Jill is happy, I'm happy.

I hope all the endeavors of the Housewives are successful.
