Here's the Television Moment That Inspired Tinsley and Topper Mortimer to Elope

Life imitates art, especially when that art includes Jason Priestley.

Tinsley Mortimer's Elopement Was Inspired by Andrea Zuckerman

One of our favorite facts about Tinsley Mortimer is that she married Topper Mortimer twice. The first time they eloped was at age 18 (they later annulled it), and then they got married again in a traditional ceremony when Tinsley was 26. It's very romantic, no? But what makes the story even better is knowing the TV show that inspired them to get hitched at the courthouse in the first place.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo Sundays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app

"We watched [Beverly Hills,] 90210, when Andrea got married at the court," Tinsley told Bethenny Frankel and Carole Radziwill during the most recent episode of RHONY. "They went to a court and got married. We were like, 'ding, ding, ding, oh my god we can go to a court and get married and nobody has to know.' So we got married!"

Here's the moment she's referring to:

For the record, yes, Andrea was pregnant. And the guy she married? Jesse Vasquez, a bartender working his way through law school. Come on, Bethenny!

Of course, Tinsley and Topper's secert marriage didn't last for long.
"We just had to get it annulled, because you can't be living at boarding school and get married, and then we got remarried again. At that point I was 26."

While the two have since divorced, this Instagram post proves there's still love between the two high school sweethearts.

Just realized today is my anniversary. No longer married but still my great friend 😊
