Dorinda Medley Reveals She's Working on an "Old School" Cookbook
The Real Housewives of New York City cast member is cooking up plans for a book that's filled with easy recipes — and a Jell-O tip or two.
Dorinda Medley's kitchen philosophy can be summed up with four words: Waste not, want not. The thought of tossing leftover ingredients pains the resourceful home cook, and in the clip above she shares tips for making good use of excess meatloaf and surplus herbs.
But as we recently learned, The Real Housewives of New York City cast member also has quite a few Jell-O hacks up her sleeve. You might even be able to read about them someday.
"I’m thinking about publishing a great Blue Stone Manor cookbook," Dorinda revealed to BravoTV.com. "It’s a Betty Crocker kind of theme. Easy to do, at your fingertips, old school, you know?"
And, it would seem, jiggly. "I’ve been practicing a lot of Jell-O recipes," she continued. "I’m back into Jell-O."
"I was at [my mom's] house about a week ago and i was going through her old recipes," she explained. In the process of rifling through those vintage clips, Dorinda discovered a 1970s cookbook that centered on the gelatinous dessert.
"Jell-O used to be very big when we were growing up," she recalled. "It was the happy dessert that was low-cost." And while Dorinda's own book is still in the works, she did offer a quick tip for doing her "happy dessert" justice.
"All you really need with Jell-O is to perfect the amount of water you use to decide how gelatinous you want it," she advised. "And you always have to involve Cool Whip."
