The former J. Crew president and executive creative director joins E! Entertainment fashion experts Zanna Roberts Rassi, Zuri Hall, and Jonathan Van Ness at the 2023 Met Gala, the fashion event of the year, taking place on Monday, May 1, 2023. But it isn’t Lyons’ first visit to the star-studded extravaganza, with the LoveSeen co-founder having appeared in several fashion-forward looks at Met Galas of seasons past.

Here are just a few of Jenna Lyons' unforgettable looks at the Met Gala.

Jenna Lyons' Met Gala 2012 Look

Before Kanye West wore denim to the 2016 Met Gala for a shocking look, Lyons arrived during the 2012 season wearing a fitted, buttoned jean jacket top with white cuffs and collar by J. Crew, worn with a long, Schiaparelli-pink skirt.

In a 2012 interview with Racked, Lyons said, “I didn’t want to wear duchesse silk satin with something sparkly or pearls. I am who I am, so I took it down a notch with denim.”

The look appeared for the Institute Gala’s “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations,” which explored “the striking affinities between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, two Italian designers from different eras,” according to the Met.

Jenna Lyons' Met Gala 2013 Look

In 2013, Lyons attended the Met Gala’s exhibition of “Punk: Chaos to Couture” with former long-time partner Courtney Crangi. She wore a khaki-colored sweater with large white block lettering that read, “Sharif Don’t Like It” over a long, cuffed white button-down top. She paired it with a long oil-slick black skirt, topped with big beaded neckwear and her signature thick-rimmed glasses.

The Telegraph called it “possibly her most memorable red carpet look to date.”

Jenna Lyons' Met Gala 2015 Look

Lyons wowed the fashion industry during the 2015 exhibition of “China: Through the Looking Glass,” examining “Chinese aesthetics on Western fashion and how China has fueled the fashionable imagination for centuries,” according to the Met. Lyons turned heads with a white J. Crew pajama set covered in chain mail on the red carpet, an unusual choice but one for the books.

Fashion writer Gina Marinelli wrote, “Typically, ‘rolled right out of bed’ isn’t the nicest thing to say about someone’s party look, but… Jenna Lyons’ [look] is absolutely magical.”

Some weren’t as blown away by what the New York Narrative called “bejeweled pajamas,” but it certainly proved Lyons knew how to push the envelope.

Jenna Lyons' Met Gala 2016 Look

One of Lyons’ most unforgettable red carpet moments came when she stood alongside actress Lena Dunham and writer Jennifer Konner, both of whom wrote and produced HBO’s Girls (Lyons once had a cameo on the series). The trio sported Lyons’ signature glasses and slicked hair while wearing matching black suits for “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.”

With small details separating each of the three women, Lyons donned a ruffled, plunging white blouse and a sleek, black blazer with matching pants. She and Dunham’s pants had cigarette pant legs, while Konner flaunted the flare cut.

Critics said the look was “more than an homage to Yves Saint Laurent’s classic le smoking suit” but a fashion statement by “like-minded women… showing up in solidarity, suited to this year’s theme celebrating how fashion meets technology.”

Jenna Lyons' Met Gala 2017 Look

Lyons appeared at the Gala’s 2017 “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of The In-Between,” an exhibition to examine the avant-garde looks of designer Rei Kawakubo. Lyons was photographed with filmmaker Paul Feig, wearing a flowing, coral-colored long skirt, a white mid-sleeved top, and an eye-catching olive-green vest decorated with over a dozen jeweled pins or broaches.

Lyons left her glasses at home but kept her slicked hair, topping the look with Buccellati jewelry.

Lyons was confirmed to be one of the all-new cast members of the RHONY cast during Bravo Con 2022, alongside Ubah Hassan, Erin Dana Lichy, Jessel Taank, Brynn Whitfield, and Sai De Silva. We wonder what she’ll wear tonight as a fashion correspondent for E! at the 2023 Met Gala!
