Leah McSweeney Dishes on Her New Sustainable Sleepwear Line
The Real Housewives of New York City designer's Happy Place line is “totally committed to sustainable manufacturing."
Since the age of 22, Married to the Mob has been Leah McSweeney's "baby," but now The Real Housewives of New York City designer is making room for a new fashion venture.
In September, Leah announced her upcoming sleepwear line, Happy Place, and this fresh project has a completely different vibe from her cheeky streetwear brand. Her new company focuses on cozy attire and is “totally committed to sustainable manufacturing,” Leah told Page Six in a recent interview — even the packaging is made entirely of recycled materials.
Leah began working on the line about a month after the coronavirus pandemic began earlier this year. “I kind of grappled with doing another brand because Married to the Mob has been my baby, you know, but I love the project so much and I feel like it’s such a good time [to launch]," she explained. "Everyone wants to be comfortable and cozy right now because we’re dealing with such insanity in our lives."
She continued, "I have put so much work into my home and being comfortable in my home because we’re here so much [during the pandemic], but it’s also a state of mind... Right now, our happy places are being challenged and we have to find new ones. And we’ve had to really think about what that means."
So what type of pieces can we expect from Happy Place? According to Page Six, the brand's first offerings will include waffle-knit robes ($120) and blankets ($80) made from 100 percent GOTS-certified organic cotton, available for pre-order on November 1. Leah also revealed that items such as candles, T-shirts, home goods, and more will be added in the future.
