See Emily Simpson's Intimate Look at Her "Simpler" Life in Utah

Before settling in amongst the sprawl and bustle of a giant home in the Orange County, Emily Simpson loved living in Utah, where she once practiced law with her now-husband Shane. Amid recent reports (and footage being aired this season) that the couple are now in the midst of marital strife, The Real Housewives of Orange County mom recalled a time "when life was much simpler" in an Instagram post.

"I woke up every morning to the view of Utah mountains and I rode horses almost every day," she captioned a throwback picture of herself kissing a horse. "I found horseback riding to be so therapeutic when I was dealing with lots of trauma and pain from so many losses. Animals have a way of helping you see your way out of the darkness. Animals have such an amazing intuitive healing power."

"Riding always brought me lots of peace and calm," she wrote. "I should probably get back to it ASAP." As for where exactly she lived in Utah, Emily replied to a commenter on her post, "I lived in highland which is right next to [American Fork]."

And if she chooses to stay put in the OC, Emily can always take an extended soak in her "spool," her slang for the relaxing spa-pool in her California backyard!
